Genetic regulatory axis between AGR2 and ESR1 promotes breast cancer progression

ABSTRACT: AGR2 has emerged as a key player in tumorigenesis and metastasis, exhibiting upregulation in various types of cancer and contributing to their malignant progression. Intriguingly, despite its canonical residence within the ER, this enigmatic protein possesses the ability to venture beyond cellular boundaries and manifest tumorigenic properties in the extracellular environment. This study aimed to first define the global transcriptome that is maintained by a functional AGR2 system in breast cancer cells and find potential constituents for this cancer associated process.
