BCAT1 drives cardiac fibrosis by promoting proline synthesis machinery
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Fibrosis is a disease condition with excessive deposition of extracellular matrix (ECM) components such as collagens in tissues and has been reported to be associated with approximately 45% of deaths in developed countries. The cells that produce excessive ECM in fibrotic tissue are called myofibroblasts which do not exist in normal tissue but appear only in fibrotic tissue. In this time, we knocked down BCAT1 in cardiac myofibroblasts using siRNA.
