Transcriptional profiling of Slc7a7-deficient bone marrow derived macrophages subjected to in vitro LDL loading
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Atherosclerotic coronary artery disease (CAD) development encompasses changes in immune cell populations, including macrophages. In atherosclerotic plaques, macrophages engulf LDL, becoming lipid-laden foam cells. Human and mouse atherosclerosis single-cell RNA-Seq datasets revealed Slc7a7 as a gene expressed specifically in macrophages, particularly in the lipid-associated macrophage subpopulation. Here, we investigate the gene expression profiles of Slc7a7-deficient (Slc7a7-/-) and Slc7a7+/+ bone marrow-derived macrophages exposed to either acetylated or oxidized LDL in vitro.
