Dioxin, an endocrine disruptor, induces long term effects on DNA methylation in men after in-utero exposure.
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: This study explores how maternal exposure to tetrachlorodibenzodioxin (TCDD) during the Seveso incident in 1976 affected the epigenomes of Italian male descendants in their adulthood. The incident involved the release of a toxic cloud containing dioxin into the atmosphere, resulting in severe health impacts for those exposed. DNA methylation analysis was conducted using EPICv1 Illumina BeadArrays on blood samples from a cohort of 38 individuals.
