The effect of dual radiation and antiandrogen therapyt on prostate cancer cell lines [C4-2]
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Immunotherapy has been effective in many cancer types, but failed in multiple clinical trials in cancers of the prostate, an organ largely influenced by androgen action. However, the prostate propensity cannot be explained by the immune suppressive activity of androgen receptor (AR) in T cells as reported recently. The OPeRATIC trial (NCT02816983) showed significantly improved outcomes in patients with oligometastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) treated with metastasis-directed radiation (IR) and ARPI who experienced increased levels of CD8+CD11ahigh T cells in peripheral circulation. Here we report that AR pathway inhibitor (ARPI) plus radiation triggers robust anti-cancer immunity in prostate cancer from patients.
