Time course analysis of gene expression in the liver of the 70% partial hepatectomy mouse model.

ABSTRACT: The liver has a remarkable regenerative capacity, allowing it to regain mass through compensatory hypertrophy of the remaining tissue after the surgical removal of 70% of its mass. During this regenerative process, lipid accumulation and proliferation of liver parenchymal cells have been observed; however, the full extent of the underlying regenerative mechanisms remains unclear. Our study performed a comprehensive gene expression analysis using microarrays on liver samples collected at 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, and 14 days following 70% partial hepatectomy in mice.
