SSEA-1+ and SSEA-1- endometrial epithelial cells

ABSTRACT: SSEA-1+ endometrial epithelial cells (EECs) assume the postulated stem progenitor cell niche within the human endometrium. Previous studies have demonstrated isolated SSEA-1+ cells to have a higher capacity to generate organoids in a 3D matrix, have lower steroid hormone expression and higher telomerase activity with longer telomere lengths. To further explore this we conducted transcriptional profiling comparing human SSEA-1 enriched and depleted endometrial epithelial cells from eight individuals.
