Elevation of caldesmon-1 is essential for the differentiation of aortic valve interstitial cells into osteoblasts.
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: The molecular mechanisms underlying calcification and fibrosis in aortic valve leaflets remain unclear. This study highlights the functional roles of Caldesmon1 (CALD1), a cytoskeletal regulatory protein, in the progression of calcific aortic valve disease (CAVD), with a focus on its effect on valvular interstitial cell (VIC) behavior and osteoblast differentiation. RNA-seq analysis combined with ingenuity pathway analysis was performed to clarify the functional roles of CALD1 in aortic valve calcification.
