Genome-wide analysis of the epigenetic effects of histone sorbylation in HepG2 cells [RNA-seq]

ABSTRACT: We investigated the epigenetic effects of histone sorbylation induced by potassium sorbate treatment in HepG2 hepatocellular carcinoma cells. RNA-seq analysis revealed that sorbate treatment caused diverse changes in gene expression, with significant upregulation of cholesterol biosynthetic genes. CUT&Tag analysis showed that sorbylated H2BK11 accumulated in the promoter regions within 1 kb of the transcription start sites, particularly around the upregulated genes. These results suggested that sorbate-induced H2BK11 sorbylation may act as an active epigenetic mark.
