Olfr2 deficiency protects from abdominal aortic aneurysm
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Olfactory receptor 2 is a G-protein coupled receptor expressed on vascular macrophages. Activation by its ligand octanal in conjuction with a toll like receptor 4 stimulus induces the NLRP3 inflammasome with subsequent IL-1alpha and IL-1beta release. In this study we aim to investigate the effects of genetic Olfr2 deficiency on the development of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA).
