PELO-1/Pelota-mediated ribosome-associated quality control counteracts aging and age-associated pathologies across species.
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Ribosome-associated quality control (RQC) is a pivotal biological process that governs the fidelity of mRNA homeostasis and protein synthesis. Here, by focusing on PELO-1/Pelota, the ribosome rescue factor crucial for RQC and mRNA surveillance, we sought to determine how RQC and the mRNA surveillance contributed to longevity and the prevention of premature aging and age-associated diseases. We performed RNA sequencing (RNA seq) analysis that compared the transcriptome of long-lived daf-2(-) with that of short-lived daf-2(-) pelo-1(-); skih-2(-) mutant C. elegans.
