Salmonella typhimurium targets distal colonocytes to trigger infection
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: To clarify how different intestinal cell types respond when facing the key intestinal pathogenic microorganism Salmonella, we conducted single-cell transcriptomic sequencing. The results revealed that a specific cluster of mature colonic epithelial cells was the most susceptible to infection. By describing the transcriptomic changes of this cluster of cells at different time points after infection, we further aimed to explain how this cluster of cells was affected by the infection.
