Mycoplasma bovis nucleomodulin MbovP202 modulates DNA methylation in BoMac cells
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: We identified a novel M. bovis nucleomodulin, MbovP202, which functions as a 5-methylcytosine-specific DNA methyltransferase that localizes to the nucleus of the bovine macrophage cell line (BoMac). Whole genome bisulfite sequencing (WGBS) demonstrated that MbovP202 increases methylation at mCATG sites and mCG sites. Integrated analysis of WGBS and RNA-Seq data revealed that genes with promoter hypermethylation and concomitant down-regulated expression were predominantly enriched in metabolic and inflammatory pathways.
