Transcriptome Analysis Reveals the Regulatory Role of Jianpi Huazhi Wan (JPHZW) in Alleviating DSS-Induced Ulcerative Colitis
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: In order to investigate the therapeutic efficacy and underlying mechanisms of Jianpi Huazhi Wan (JPHZW), a hospital-formulated Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), in treating dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced ulcerative colitis (UC) in mice, this study conducted transcriptome sequencing analysis of colon tissue through DSS induced mouse UC model. Key pathways involved in JPHZW’s therapeutic effects included the PPAR pathway (linked to fat metabolism), NF-κB (associated with inflammation), retinol metabolism, and detoxification processes. JPHZW reduced levels of NF-κB p65, a protein that drives inflammation, while increasing PPARγ, a regulator of metabolic balance. Together, these changes effectively reduced both inflammation and metabolic imbalances in the colon.
