Spatially organized progenitors in the zebrafish heart field determine cardiovascular patterning [MERFISH]
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Progenitor cells expressing nkx2.5 are specified in the bilateral zebrafish heart field that give rise to distinct components of the cardiovascular system. We performed spatial transcriptomics (MERFISH) to profile 14-ss wildtype (TU) and Tg(nkx2.5:ZsYellow) zebrafish embryos as well as to determine their importance for heart development. Our data provide a blueprint of heart field organization that informs vulnerable aspects of cardiovascular development.
