Investigation of androgen receptor signaling in aged and Alzheimer's disease brains
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Androgen signaling via the androgen receptor (AR), a ligand-dependent transcription factor within the steroid receptor superfamily, plays a vital role in the development and regulation of neuronal activity. Despite this, the mechanisms by which AR signaling is sustained or altered in human brain tissues remain unexplored. To deepen our understanding of AR function in the human brain, we conducted ChIP-seq (chromatin immunoprecipitation followed by sequencing) to identify AR and its associated transcription factors binding sites, and histone-acetylated regions in brain tissues from elderly individuals and patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD).
