Transcriptomic insights into a GalNAc/Man-Specific lectin in yeast fermentation

ABSTRACT: This study aimed to investigate the regulatory effects of Cyclina sinensis lectin (CSL) on ethanol production in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. An integrated analysis of transcriptomic and metabolomic changes was conducted to explore how CSL treatment influences yeast metabolism. Total RNA was extracted from yeast cells with and without CSL treatment. High-throughput RNA-Seq was performed using the Illumina platform. Differential gene expression analysis was conducted using DESeq2, and functional enrichment was performed through Gene Ontology (GO) and KEGG pathway analysis. Results revealed significant changes in genes involved in energy metabolism, stress response, and biosynthesis pathways. This study provides insight into the molecular mechanisms underlying CSL's enhancement of ethanol production in yeast and highlights potential metabolic targets for industrial fermentation optimization.
