Impact of Tissue-Resident Macrophages on the postnatal neuronal and vascular development in the eardrum
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: We have employed a single cell sequencing approach using 10x Genomics scRNAseq to study postnatal eardrum tissue resident macrophages (TRMs) and pericytes. TRMs are essential components of the innate immune system, exhibiting diverse phenotypes and functional specialization across nearly all tissues and organs, including the eardrum. The vascular network in the eardrum is rich in pericytes, which are crucial for the proper development, stability, and maturation of blood vessels. This study represents the first transcriptome analysis of eardrum TRMs and pericytes and provides new insights into the role of TRMs during eardrum development postnatally.
