ABSTRACT: TGF-beta1 is the major cytokine driver of fibrotic scarring observed in diabetic nephropathy and other fibrosis-related diseases. RNA-sequencing offers the potential for more sensitive assessment of the TGF-ß1-driven transcriptome.
