Radiation triggers a clinically relevant profibrotic p53-mediated DNA damage response in an ex vivo human skin model
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Radiation therapy is a cornerstone of cancer treatment which frequently leads to cutaneous side effects. In a significant proportion of patients, this can progress to debilitating radiation-induced skin fibrosis (RISF). To investigate the early molecular events underlying RISF, we employed a novel human ex vivo model utilizing discarded human skin from elective surgical procedures. This dataset is comprised of irradiated and control skin from 6 human donors post-panniculectomy.
