Effect of overepression of HK1 in hepatocellular carcinoma cells
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Hexokinase (HK), accountable for the phosphorylation of glucose, catalyzes the initial step of glucose metabolism. The HK family encompasses four members (HK1-4) in mammals, and HK1 exhibits the highest affinity for glucose. We found that overexpression of HK1 in Huh7 cells not only promoted the glycolysis pathway but also increased the pathway of asparagine N-linked glycosylation.
