Effect of mitochondrial fusion and fission on gene expresssion in early Drosophila embryos
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Mitochondria are fragmented and dispersed in early blastoderm Drosophila embryos. Expression of mutant of mitochondrial fission protein, Drp1 (Drp1SG), leads to larger mitochondria with aberrant distribution. Increasing ROS genetically by knocking down SOD2 in Drp1SG embryos (Drp1SG;SOD2i) rescues the defects of mitochondrial distribution.
