Arginase-1 dependent Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 from myofibroblasts and endothelial cells facilitates kidney tubular proliferation after ischemic injury
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Following acute kidney injury, successful regeneration of tubular epithelium is essential to restore normal kidney function. We have previously reported that alternatively activated (Arg1+) macrophages in the outer medulla promote tubular proliferation following ischemic injury, however the specific growth factor(s) mediating this effect remained unidentified.
