Active aldehydes accelerate CD8+ T cell exhaustion by metabolic alteration in the tumor microenvironment

ABSTRACT: We employed a 10x Genomics single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) approach to investigate the characteristics of distinct mitochondrial states within PD1+ CD8+ T cells in tumors. This study demonstrates that mitochondrial status correlates with the depth of exhaustion in PD1+ CD8+ T cells and further characterizes distinct functional stages of exhaustion within the tumor microenvironment (TME).
