Fusion gene discovery in single cells with LongFUSE from high throughput long read single cell transcriptomes

ABSTRACT: High-throughput long-read single cell RNA sequencing enables full-length transcript discovery of thousands of genes in thousands of cells. Robust computational tools for detecting fusion genes in individual cells remain missing. Here, we report LongFUSE, a new computational tool that employs XOR logic gate for fast and accurate detection of cell-specific fusion genes and their splicing isoforms. LongFUSE outperformed existing tools in simulation and real data, demonstrating high accuracy and robustness.
