Differential transcriptional effects of mycobacterial nucleomodulins MgdE and MmpE in THP-1 macrophages

ABSTRACT: This study uses RNA-seq to quantitatively compare the gene expression profiles of THP-1 macrophages infected with the wild-type (WT), mgdE-deleted (ΔmgdE), and mmpE-deleted (ΔmmpE) strains of Mycobacterium bovis BCG, in order to investigate the roles of two conserved nucleomodulins, MgdE (Rv1075c) and MmpE (Rv2577), in host-pathogen interactions.
