Reconstituting central nervous system niche cues partially restores homeostatic identity in cultured murine primary microglia


ABSTRACT: Microglia rapidly lose their characteristic homeostatic phenotype after isolation and plastic adherence, undermining the interpretability of in vitro studies. We systematically evaluated culture conditions that reconstitute central nervous system (CNS) niche inputs to stabilize microglial identity.
