GmJAG1 regulates leaf shape development in soybean through transcriptional control of developmental and hormone signaling genes

ABSTRACT: RNA-seq time-course analysis of soybean (Glycine max) shoot apical meristem (SAM) development comparing broad-leaf (functional GmJAG1) and narrow-leaf (D9H mutation) genotypes. Four genotypes were examined: PI 532462A and LD11-2170 (broad-leaf, functional GmJAG1) and PI 612713B and LD11-7311 (narrow-leaf, D9H mutation in GmJAG1). Samples were collected at five developmental timepoints (TP0-TP4) representing progressive stages of SAM development from vegetative meristem to early leaf emergence. Three biological replicates per genotype-timepoint combination yielded 60 total samples. This study identifies GmJAG1-regulated genes controlling leaf morphology in soybean.
