Lung gene expression in WT and estrogen receptor alpha and beta knockout mice exposed to house dust mites
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Sex differences in asthma severity suggest that estrogen signaling plays a key regulatory role in airway inflammation and remodeling, yet the specific contribution of estrogen receptors (ERα and ERβ) remains poorly defined. Here, we investigated how ERα and ERβ shapes physiological, structural, and immunological responses to chronic allergen exposure by examining wild-type (WT), ERα knockout (Esr1⁻/⁻) and ERβ knockout (Esr2⁻/⁻) male and female mice subjected to 5-weeks of house dust mite (HDM) challenge.
