Transcriptomic analysis of punicic acid-treated ovarian cancer and normal epithelial cell lines

ABSTRACT: Ovarian cancer is a highly lethal gynecological malignancy with limited effective therapeutic options. In this study, we investigated the effects of punicic acid (PunA) on ovarian cancer and normal epithelial cells. RNA-seq analysis was performed on ovarian cancer cell lines (HEYA8 and A2780) and normal epithelial cell lines (P201 and E7) to characterize transcriptional changes induced by PunA treatment. PunA preferentially reduced cancer cell viability, with comparatively less effect on normal cells. Transcriptomic profiling revealed differential regulation of genes associated with oxidative stress, lipid metabolism, mitochondrial function, and ferroptosis-related pathways. These data provide insight into the molecular mechanisms underlying PunA-mediated anticancer effects.
