Comparative transcriptome analysis of resistant and susceptible Brassica juncea lines infected with Albugo candida reveal white rust defense mechanism

ABSTRACT: In this study, we aim to elucidate the transcriptome of white rust resistance in contrasting resistant and susceptible Brassica juncea lines. We have taken Near-Isogenic lines (NILs) fpor our study. These NILs, sharing an almost identical genetic background but differing in the presence or absence of a resistance locus, provide an excellent system for investigating the mechanistic basis of resistance. So, activation of defense-related genes downstream of R-gene recognition further reinforces resistance and distinguishes resistant from susceptible interactions.
