Transcriptome analysis of high- and low-growth Pacific abalone (Haliotis discus hannai)
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Pacific abalone (Haliotis discus hannai) is one of the most important aquaculture species in East Asia, and growth performance is a key trait for stable and efficient production. To better understand the molecular differences associated with growth variation in this species, we conducted transcriptome profiling of high-growth and low-growth Pacific abalone groups showing significant differences in growth traits. RNA-seq data were generated from hepatopancreas and mantle tissues to identify transcriptional variation associated with growth performance. Comparison of gene expression patterns between the two growth groups provided molecular information relevant to the biological processes and regulatory pathways underlying growth differences in Pacific abalone.
