Adm and Ackr3 regulate cardiac lymphatic vessel formation during zebrafish heart development and regeneration

ABSTRACT: It is well established that lymphatic vessels regulate interstitial fluid homeostasis and facilitate the transport of macromolecules and immune cells. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying cardiac lymphatic vessel formation during heart development and regeneration remain unclear. Single-cell RNA sequencing revealed that, during heart regeneration, ackr3a mutants exhibit altered LEC subcluster compositions and differential expression of several candidate downstream genes. Our findings uncover the heterogeneity of cardiac LECs and demonstrate that the Adm–Ackr3 decoy receptor axis regulates cardiac lymphatic vessel formation during zebrafish heart development and regeneration.
