Spatial mapping of senescent and disease-associated microglia in aged mouse brain white matter
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: The brain experiences age-associated molecular, structural, and functional changes that coincide with greater incidence of neurological disease. Senescent and inflammatory cells may contribute to the maladaptive remodeling and reprogramming of aging brain parenchyma and are potential mediators of age-dependent brain dysfunction. To detect senescent cells and their gene signatures with preserved spatial context, we employed GeoMx digital spatial profiling to analyze the distribution and biological heterogeneity of cell populations in young and aged mouse brain tissue slices.
