Dichlorobenzene Rat S1500+

ABSTRACT: 1,2‑Dichlorobenzene (1,2‑DCB) is a chlorinated aromatic hydrocarbon that is widely used in industrial applications, including as a solvent for waxes, resins, and paints, and it serves as an ingredient in the production of disinfectants and deodorants. 1,4‑Dichlorobenzene (1,4‑DCB) is a chlorinated aromatic hydrocarbon that is used in various industrial and household applications, including as a fumigant for moth control, a deodorizer in urinal cakes, and an air freshener in domestic and public settings. Short-term in vivo transcriptomic studies were used to assess the biological potency of 1,2‑DCB and 1,4-DCB. The data from these studies are intended to support risk assessment and establishment of acceptable exposure levels of 1,2‑DCB and 1,4-DCB in environmental and occupational settings.

MAQC-II Project: NIEHS data set

Project description:The NIEHS data set (endpoint C) was provided by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) of the National Institutes of Health (Research Triangle Park, NC, USA). The study objective was to use microarray gene expression data acquired from the liver of rats exposed to hepatotoxicants to build classifiers for prediction of liver necrosis. The gene expression compendium data set was collected from 418 rats exposed to one of eight compounds (1,2-dichlorobenzene, 1,4-dichlorobenzene, bromobenzene, monocrotaline, N-nitrosomorpholine, thioacetamide, galactosamine, and diquat dibromide). All eight compounds were studied using standardized procedures, i.e. a common array platform (Affymetrix Rat 230 2.0 microarray), experimental procedures and data retrieving and analysis processes.

Project description:White rot fungi are able to degrade woody lignin and other persistent organic compounds including artificial chemicals (e.g. chlorinated dioxin) in secondary metabolism. This ability has potential in a wide range of biotechnological applications including remediation of organopollutants and the industrial processing of paper and textiles. Ligninolytic fungi secondarily secrete extracellular oxidative enzymes thought to play an important role in these compounds decay. However, detail of metabolic pathway and initiation signals of the degradation system is unclear. To investigate genes directly and indirectly related to it, we constructed long serial analysis of gene expression (Long SAGE) library from the most studied white rot fungus, Phanerochaete chrysosporium.
