Gene Regulatory Network Inference in Haloferax volcanii

ABSTRACT: Gene regulatory networks are mathematical models which predict regulatory interactions between genes and transcription factors. These models are useful as they provide testable hypothesis of gene-transcription factor interaction, which is useful for exploration in understudied organisms. The goal of this study is to systematically collect gene expression data from both environmental and knockout conditions for the model halophilic archaeon, Haloferax volcanii. This data, alongside existing expression data sourced from the wider community, will enable the inference of a gene regulatory network, which will in turn accelerate biological discovery in the organism.
