Wildfire Smoke Exposure Accelerates Age-related Functional Decline in Caenorhabditis Elegans

ABSTRACT: Wildfire smoke (WFS) is an expanding source of fine particulate matter with well-documented cardiopulmonary risks. It has recently been linked to increases in human disease, yet its impact on organismal aging and functional declines remains incompletely understood. Here we generated RNA sequencing on young (day 5) and mid-life (day 10) C. elegans with or without a single 30 µg/mL WFS exposure to provide insight into biological processes potentially affected by WFS in the context of aging.
