Transcriptomic profiling of TGF-beta1-induced A549 cells treated with osmundacetone

ABSTRACT: Pulmonary fibrosis is characterized by excessive extracellular matrix deposition and progressive loss of lung function. This study evaluated the transcriptional response of A549 alveolar epithelial cells to the natural compound osmundacetone (OSMA) in a TGF-beta1-induced profibrotic model. RNA sequencing was performed on vehicle control, TGF-beta1 model, and TGF-beta1 plus OSMA groups, with three biological replicates per group. TGF-beta1 induced broad changes in extracellular matrix organization, TGF-beta/SMAD signaling, cytokine-receptor interactions, and oxidative-stress programs, whereas OSMA shifted these expression patterns toward the control state.
