Maternal high-fat, high-sucrose diet exposure alters hepatic gene expression in mouse offspring
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Maternal obesity increases offspring susceptibility to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), but the underlying molecular mechanisms remain incompletely understood. In this study, we performed RNA sequencing of liver tissues from 3-week-old male offspring born to dams fed either a chow diet or a high-fat, high-sucrose (HFHS) diet during gestation and lactation. Transcriptomic analysis revealed alterations in genes involved in lipid metabolism and biosynthetic pathways, supporting the role of maternal nutritional exposure in programming hepatic metabolic responses in offspring.
