Expression of 50-500nt ncRNAs in silkworm Bombyx mori during development

Project description:With an experimental RNomics, we identified 194 novel ncRNAs in silkworm through four developmental stages (egg, larva, pupa and adult). Oligos of 132 ncRNAs were sucessfully designed, the expression of these ncRNAs were analyzed by dual-channel microarray, results showed that 36 ncRNAs had significantly differential expression during development.

Sociogenomics of self vs. non-self cooperation during development of Dictyostelium discoideum [NC105.1_RFP_vs_NC63.2]

Project description:Dictyostelium discoideum, a microbial model for social evolution, is known to distinguish self from non-self and show genotype-dependent behavior during chimeric development. Aside from a small number of cell-cell recognition genes, however, little is known about the genetic basis of self/non-self recognition in this species. Based on the key hypothesis that there should be differential expression of genes if D. discoideum cells were interacting with non-clone mates, we performed transcriptomic profiling study in this species during clonal vs. chimeric development. Wild strains isolated from North Carolina, which have been shown to form a dominance hierarchy when co-developing in chimeras, were used. The transcriptomic profiles of D. discoideum cells in clones vs. different chimeras were compared at five different developmental stages using a customized microarray. Effects of chimerism on global transcriptional patterns associated with social interactions were observed. The chimera developmental program may also provide insights on behavioral changes associated with social conflicts in this species.

Gene expression profiles during larval development for pearl oyster, Pinctada fucata

Project description:A microarray analysis has been employed to study the knowledge of different developmental stages and the related gene expression profiles of P.fucata. Our study focused on the global genes expression profiles of the fertilized egg, trochophore, D-shaped stage, umbonal stage, juvenile of P.fucata. Fertilized eggs were harvested immediately after insemination, the trochophore stage, D-shaped stage, umbonal stage larvae and juvenile stage samples were then collected at 24h, 48h, 14days or 35days after a microscopy counting to ensure more than 80% of the individuals had reached the certain growing stages. The collected larvae were snap-frozen in liquid nitrogen, and stored at -80°C. In total, 15 pools of samples from 5 different developmental stages larvae were used for the microarray analysis. Three biological replicates were employed in each developmental stage.
