High succinic acid tolerance E.coli (DST160)

Project description:To understand cell responses against high succinate stress, a continuous culture was performed for 9 months using a wild Escherichia coli under gradually increasing succinate stress. The final adapted strain against high succinate stress, named DST160, was able to grow with no lag phase in medium containing 1.35 M of succinate stress while wild W3110 showed more than 38 h lag phase. The maximum growth rate and growth yield of DST160 under the stress condition were 0.20 h-1 and 0.192 g-cell/g-glucose, which were 53.8 % and 12.3 % higher than those of W3110 (0.13 h-1 and 0.171 g-cell/g-glucose, respectively).

Project description:Pseudomonas lundensis is an environmental psychrotrophic bacterium and a leading causative of frozen food spoilage. Here we present the transcriptomics study of P. lundensis strain AU1044, in aerobic in vitro growth conditions both 4°C and 37°C, and in vivo germ-free mice. The difference in the expression profile of several regulatory and metabolic genes over these three conditions highlights the ubiquitous nature of this bacterium.

Project description:Investigation of comprehensive information about the expression level of RNA transcripts across the entire E.coli genome in mulitple growth conditions, including log-phase; stationary phase, heat shock and nitrogen-limiting condition. A fourteen chip study using total RNA recovered from four separate culture conditions of E.coli K12 MG1655. Project description:Arctic Mesorhizobium strain N33 was isolated from nodules of the Oxytropis arctobia in Canada’s eastern Arctic. This symbiotic bacterium can grow from 0 to 30°C, is one of the best known cold-adapted rhizobia, and can fix nitrogen at ~10°C. Here, the key molecular mechanisms of cold adaptation were investigated by determining changes in transcript profiles when cells were treated under eight different temperature conditions, including both sustained and transient cold treatments compared with cells grown at room temperature.
