Expression data from susceptible rice cultivar innoculated with Magnaporthe oryzae isolate (Mo-ei-11)

ABSTRACT: The molecular mechanisms underlying infection of rice host system with compatible M. oryzae isolates at 12, 24, 48 and 72 hours post innoculation (hpi) are investigated in the study. In addition, the identification of highly commonly upregulated genes by both isolates of M. oryzae may be useful candidates for M.oryzae inducible promoter characterization We used microarrays to detail the global programme of gene expression underlying M. oryzae infection during compatible host-pathogen interaction Overall design: 14-day-old healthy rice seedlings were inoculated with highly virulent M. oryzae isolate, Mo-ei-11. For pathogen inoculation, spores were dissolved in 0.2 % gelatin to a concentration of 105/ml. Healthy 14-day-old healthy old plants of the same cultivar sprayed with 0.2 % gelatin were taken as control. Leaf tissues were harvested at 24, 48 and 72 hpi in case of Mo-ei-11 isolate and 24 hpi with Mo-ni-25 isolate for RNA extraction and hybridization on Affymetrix microarrays from both pathogen inoculated and control plants.
