Expression data of adult quiescent and activated mouse neural stem cells

ABSTRACT: Neural stem cells were sorted according to their activated or quiescent state by flow cytometry using a set of 3 markers (LeX, CD24 and EGFR) We used microarrays to detail the global programme of gene expression underlying the proliferation/quiescence balance. Overall design: Neural stem cells were freshly sorted from adult mouse subventricular zone by flow cytometry and Affymetrix GeneChip MOE 430 2.0 microarrays were hybridized.

Deciphering the mechanisms that regulate the quiescence of adult neural stem cells (NSCs) is crucial for the development of therapeutic strategies based on the stimulation of their endogenous regenerative potential in the damaged brain.
