GNPS - Ocean Xenobiotoc PPL Extraction Efficiency Experiment

ABSTRACT: Common Xenobiotoc PPL Extraction Efficiency Experiment. Standard addition of 25 common xenobiotics found in coastal seawater in San Diego to SIO pier water. Samples were stored at pH 2 and pH 7 for 20h and extracted on PPL resin to test extraction efficiency and potential degradation through hydrolysis.

Project description:Transcriptome analysis of Eggplant cv. PPL during fruit development at 0, 5, 10, 20 and 50 dpa. Eggplant is third most important solanaceae crop species after potato and tomato. It is a versatile crop adapted to different agro-climatic regions and can be grown throughout the year. Unripe eggplant fruit is consumed as cooked vegetable in various ways. It is low in calories and fats, contains mostly water, some protein, fibre and carbohydrates. To decipher molecular mechanisms involved in fruit development eggplant fruit were collected at 0, 5, 10, 20 and 50 dpa and gene expression profiles were analyzed using Affymetrix tomato GeneChip Genome array.

Untargeted metabolomics analysis of dissolved organic matter in the western Atlantic Ocean

Project description:<p>The data are dissolved organic compounds from three stations sampled in the western Atlantic Ocean in 2013. Seawater samples spanning from the surface ocean to the seafloor were collected, filtered, acidified, and extracted using solid phase extraction with Bond Elut PPL cartridges. The extracts were separated using reversed phase chromatography and analyzed with ultrahigh resolution mass spectrometry in negative ion mode. The resulting data are features, or a unique combination of mass-to -charge values and retention time. </p>

Cymodocea nodosa response to simulated CO2-driven ocean acidification

Project description:We experimentally manipulate CO2 levels and investigate the effects of high-CO2/low pH on seagrass metabolism and underlying molecular mechanisms. Cymodocea nodosa plants were collected in Cadiz Bay at the end of January 2014 and transported to the mesocosm facility. After a one week acclimation period, C. nodosa were either kept under normal (400 ppm) or elevated (1200 ppm) CO2 concentration for 12 days. RNA extraction and sequencing was performed in all phases to test differential expression of genes in different conditions.

Project description:To elucidate how does the gene expression profiles of whole transcriptome of P.fucata response to seawater acidification and warming, we have employed microarray as a tool to identify gene responses in these stress.The pearl oysters were added into the tanks with the maintaining conditions of temperature 25 °C and 31 °C, acidity pH7.8 and pH7.5, salinity 33‰ in recirculating seawater. The temperatures and pH values in the studies were near future levels and predicted for 2100 and 2300.
