<h4>Background</h4>Alcoholic liver disease (ALD) is a leading cause of advanced liver disease; however, minor clinical symptoms in the early stage frequently result in delayed diagnosis and therapy. Invasive liver biopsy, the gold standard for diagnosing ALD, is unsuitable for repetitive analysis.
