TMTs-based quantitative proteomic reveals the potential targets of a novel probiotic mixture on seasonal allergic rhinitis

ABSTRACT: This study examines the effect of a novel multistrain probiotic mixture on symptoms of allergic rhinitis (AR) and investigate potential targets underlying the probiotic treatment using proteomics. All engaged participants in our study are provided with informed consent, and the study design was approved by an ethics review board. Results imply that the novel probiotic mixture can alleviate rhinoconjunctivitis symptoms in pollen, and the proteome analyses suggested a series of proteins that might be targets underlying the probiotic intervention.

Background
Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a common nasal inflammatory disorder that severely affects an individual's quality of life (QoL) and poses a heavy financial burden. In addition to routine treatments, probiotic intervention has emerged as a promising strategy for preventing and alleviating allergic diseases. The main objective of this study was to determine the effect of a novel multi-strain probiotic mixture on AR symptoms and investigate potential targets underlying the probiotic i ...[more]
