With the introduction of nanoplastics, the physiological distinctions between PFOA and its substitute GenX on two types of freshwater algae became less pronounced.


ABSTRACT: Nanoplastics will carry PFAs, achieving "secondary transport", which in turn affects more metabolic processes, especially the enzymes of the translation system. This ultimately increased the physiological damage and growth inhibition of PFAs on algal cells, reduced the difference in physiological effects of different types of PFAs on algal cells, and increased the risk of GenX.
