Analysis of the metabolome of lugO mutants of Streptomyces sp. QL37
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: The lug gene cluster of Streptomyces sp. QL37 is required for the production of non-rearranged, C-ring cleaved angucyclines and lugdunomycin. To determine the role of the LugO oxygenases in the production of C-ring cleaved angucyclines and lugdunomycin, the lugO genes were deleted one by one and the metabolome of the generated mutants was studied using mass spectral molecular networking and structural elucidation. Based on the metabolites that were produced by the mutants and the wild-type strain, we propose a function of the LugO proteins in the biosynthesis pathway of C-ring rearranged angucyclines and lugdunomycin.
