Pseudomonas fluorescens - metabolism of and response to serotonin

ABSTRACT: Pseudomonas fluorescens MFY63 (isolated from human) was incubated with 10 or 100 micromolar serotonin. The culture supernatants were collected after 12 or 24 hours of incubation and extracted using ethyl acetate. Negative (NEG) and positive (POS) polarity data were obtained on a HR-LC-MS/MS setup.

INSTRUMENT(S): LCMS-9030, Shimadzu Nexera X2 UHPLC system, with attached PDA, coupled to Shimadzu 9030 QTOF mass spectrometer, standard ESI source

ORGANISM(S): Pseudomonas Fluorescens (ncbitaxon:294)

Background
Pseudomonas fluorescens is a Gram-negative bacterium with a remarkable metabolic and physiological versatility that enables it to adapt and colonize diverse ecological niches, including the human small intestine. While serotonin is primarily found in high concentrations in gut tissue, its levels in the lumen can be elevated in conditions such as celiac disease, where P. fluorescens is also found in increased abundance. The potential effects of serotonin on P. fluorescens in su ...[more]
