Aldehyde dehydrogenases are dual-function enzymes that oxidizes both alcohols and aldehydes
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: This dataset supports a study redefining the functional scope of the Aldehyde Dehydrogenase (ALDH) superfamily as dual-function Alcohol and Aldehyde Dehydrogenases (AALDH). While ALDH2 is classically known for acetaldehyde detoxification, we demonstrate through biochemical and cellular approaches that it possesses robust, intrinsic alcohol dehydrogenase activity.
